Anton Bruckner's motet for choir transfers quite beautifully to brass quintet. Bruckner was a devoutly religious man, and composed numerous sacred works. Bruckner was greatly admired by subsequent composers including his friend Gustav Mahler, who described him as "half simpleton, half God".
